MARTIN BRYANT PERSONAL BRANDING HEADSHOTS
Martin Bryant, a tech journalist and communications consultant, needed a refreshed set of personal branding photography for use across bylines, speaker profiles, and PR materials for his own consultancy work with technology clients.
Rather than a single studio backdrop, the brief called for moving through a few distinct London locations in one session: a textured industrial doorway, a run of teal tiling, and a green hedge backdrop, giving Martin a varied library to draw from depending on where an image would run, a stark press photo against dark industrial texture reads differently to a warmer portrait against greenery or colour.
Coverage mixed straight, direct-to-camera portraits with looser, more candid moments, including a genuine laugh caught mid-shoot while he pushed his hair back. That range matters for a journalist and consultant whose public image needs to work equally well for a serious industry byline and a more human, approachable speaker bio.
Working across multiple backdrops in a single outing meant constantly adjusting exposure and colour balance between deep shadow (the industrial door), saturated colour (the tiled wall), and dappled natural light (the hedge), while keeping skin tones consistent across the set so the images read as one coherent library rather than three unrelated shoots.
The delivered set gave Martin a flexible portrait library for ongoing use across his journalism and comms consultancy work, without needing to commission a new shoot every time a different tone or setting was called for.
