INFARM LONDON TEAM PHOTOGRAPHY

Infarm, the vertical farming company, commissioned team photography for its London operation on 11 May 2021, run alongside a video shoot from Matt Cowan of Modern Lore. The brief covered the team from two angles: clean studio headshots against a plain white backdrop for straightforward bio and press use, and a second, more distinctive set shot in situ inside the company's own vertical farm units, using the growing infrastructure itself to tell Infarm's story rather than a generic office backdrop.

The in-situ portraits were shot in the narrow corridor between the farm's grow racks, lit almost entirely by the units' own magenta and pink horticultural LEDs. That lighting is tuned for plant growth, not portraiture, and casts a heavy, uneven colour scattered across skin tones, so getting a usable portrait meant working with the ambient colour rather than correcting it away, keeping enough of that pink-on-green cast to read as authentically "inside the farm" while still holding a natural skin tone on the subject.

Studio headshots, shot against a plain white wall elsewhere in the building, gave the same subjects a neutral, corporate-standard alternative for uses where the vertical farm setting wasn't appropriate, keeping lighting and crop consistent across the set so the whole team's headshots read as one coherent library.

Coverage extended to the wider team in branded Infarm hoodies and t-shirts, plus a detail shot of a freshly harvested head of lettuce, roots still attached, held in gloved hands, giving Infarm a product image that tied the team photography back to what the farm actually grows.

Running stills alongside Modern Lore's video crew on the same day meant sharing access to the same tight grow-room corridors and coordinating around their setups, working quickly between each subject's video takes to get both the in-situ portrait and the studio headshot without holding up the wider shoot.

The delivered set gave Infarm a flexible team library: studio headshots for standard bios and press use, in-situ vertical farm portraits as a distinctive alternative for company storytelling, and a product detail shot for marketing use alongside the video footage from the same day.
