THRASIO EXECUTIVE HEADSHOTS

Thrasio, the e-commerce acquisition company, commissioned executive headshots for two of its London-based team: Jim Mann, Director of Acquisitions, and Anup Desai, Senior Manager of Operations & Communications for the UK and Germany.

The relationship predated the shoot. In July 2021, Dan Taylor had covered Thrasio's European expansion for Tech.eu, reporting on the company's hire of 16-year Amazon veteran Georg Hesse as VP for the UK and Germany, a signal of Thrasio's ambitions in a region representing over 20% of global Amazon private label sellers. The headshot booking followed that existing editorial relationship a few months later.

The backdrop was built on the day from wrinkled aluminium foil, its crumpled surface scattering light unevenly to give a textured, almost metallic register that a flat paper roll couldn't match. Coloured gels on the flash heads pushed that further, a cool blue for Jim Mann and a warm gold for Anup Desai, so each executive got a visually distinct register while the improvised rig and retouching standard stayed the same across both.

Coverage leaned into that playful setup rather than fighting it: direct, camera-aware portraits sat alongside looser, candid moments, giving a warmer, more characterful alternative to the standard corporate headshot.
